After most games I like reading the recaps and maybe checking out a few boards see what the haters are up to. The revamped Lake Show hosted the New LA Kings and according to the "experts" it is a game showing two teams going in different directions. Lob City is suddenly a well oiled defense and offensive machine that thrashed the Lakers. I don't know, perhaps I have a different deffinition of "thrashing", yes they lost by the lowest single digit and actually cut the lead to 8 before succumbing, and fouling out of frustration giving them six freebies to end the game, and while they made it look easy thanks to the Lakers inability to take care of the the ball, it was not a masterful game by any standards. The leagues deepest bench according to their broadcasters did what they were supposed to do, pummel the Lakers bench 46-14 and that was the difference, the Lakers starters actually outscored the younger athletic and more talented again according to what I read by 20 points, 79-59. There were no lobs, there were no posters, The Lakers shot better from the the floor and from downtown, outrebounded them, and blocked more shots. Clips did have more steals and assists, which you would expect a team led by perennial said stat leader Chris Paul would do, especially when the Lakers are without their quarterback. Also, something that has failed to be mentioned was the fact that Howard fought foul trouble throught the game, never got in rhythm and still matched the rebound output by the Clips centers and had more swats, for all that was raved about DJ improving on offense, I have yet to see it, he had a huge game in the pre-season game, but it's a little different with Dwight in there isn't it? So the Lakers lost, and now they're 0-3, disillusioned haters actually hope and believe they will miss the playoffs, and even boast a winless season, seriously? Enjoy it haters, especially those so called "rivals", so the Clips won the game, as bad as the Lakers have been, it should have been a clinic, yet the so called best power forward in the game and the next superstar could only muster 15 points & 8 boards against the soft Gasol and srcubs in a bench. Not really much to get excited about, but hey, it's easy to get excited about a season victory if your a Clipper fan, since that's is as about as far as you can hope for on every year, a couple of victories early in the season.
Player of the Game: Supersub Jamaal Crawford continues his stellar play off the bench, early pick for Sixth Man of the Year.
X-Factor: Former Laker Matt Barnes, had only 8 points and 5 boards, but was part of the run that gave the Clippers a commanding lead and he had some big plays.
Should Have Been Benched: The Artest formally know as Ron shot more than Gasol and Howard, sure it's not his fault he actually shoots the ball, but many of those were ill adviced, he ended up 3/10 including 1/7 from trey and 1 board.
Laker Hater: The candy man Lamar Odom is here only because he actually looked like he wanted to play, he finished with 5 points including hitting a buzzer beater when the Clips needed one. Typical.
Overtime: Mamba now is the franchise's leader in steals. In the 26 seasons I have followed basketball, I have never, never heard so much being made from pre season games, apperantely the Lakers are now on a 13 game winning streak counting the last 2 losses to OKC, pre-season, and their current start, since when did these games become part of the streak. Seriously? It's not uncommon to see hate on the Lakers every year and the standard to which they are rated on high to plain silly, but this is just plain ridiculous,
